Update::Tension As Two Anambra Assembly Factions Plan Sitting On Thursday There was tension on Wednesday in Awka, the Anambra State capital as the “warring’ factions of the state Assembly were mobilising to sit on Thursday. The Anambra State House of Assembly had been under locks since November 13 when about 25 out of 30 members of the house allegedly impeached the Speaker, Rita Maduagwu. Maduagwu was impeached for alleged financial impropriety, incompetence and gross misconduct. But Maduagwu in her reaction described her alleged impeachment as “a bundle of illegality, stressing that nobody could impeach her because she did not commit any offence to warrant that. Our correspondent gathered that following an alleged splitting of the pro-impeachment group, the Maduagwu group had planned to hold a plenary early morning on Thursday to further authenticate her leadership of the house.
