News::::Buhari departs Abuja today for conference in Poland

According to the organisers, the conference is expected to finalise the rules for implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change under the Paris Agreement Work Programme (PAWP), the rulebook for implementation. During the summit, President Buhari will deliver a national statement highlighting Nigeria’s commitment to addressing climate change by implementing the goals set out in its National Determined Contributions and accentuate Nigeria’s willingness to work with international partners to reverse the negative effects of climate change in Africa and the world over, while expecting that developed nations scale up their emission reduction activities in order to limit the increase in average global temperatures to well below 2 degrees centigrade between now and 2020. The Leaders’ Summit is expected to adopt a ‘‘Declaration on Solidarity and Just Transition Silesia,’’ named after the region of Poland where this year’s climate conference is taking place. As a member of the Committee of the African Heads of State on Climate Change, a group of 10 African countries that meets and takes positions concerning issues of climate change on behalf of the continent, Nigeria has been at the forefront of advancing policies and initiatives aimed at addressing significant challenges occasioned by climate change such as reviving Lake Chad, halting and reversing desertification, flooding, ocean surge and oil spillage. While in Poland, President Buhari will hold an interactive session with the Nigerian community in that country and is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Yahaya Bello and Abubakar Sani Bello of Enugu, Kogi and Niger states would accompany him. Others on his entourage include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, and the Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Jibrin.

The 22-year-old was then pushed to the floor, before Crews performed an amateur cesarean on her, taking her baby from her womb. News::::Nigeria Emerges Third ‘Most Terrorised Country’ For Fourth Consecutive Year – Report

Update:: The 2018 ranking on terrorism is out and Nigeria, for the fourth consecutive year, occupies the third position among the countries worst hit by terrorism, globally, because of the activities of Boko Haram and herdsmen. Apart from 2014 when it was ranked fourth, Nigeria has remained in the unenviable third position in the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) ranking since 2015. In the latest report released on Wednesday, Iraq, a country in the Middle-East, is ranked first, a position it has held since 2014. Afghanistan has ranked second since 2013. Syria and Pakistan are ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Others among the top 10 countries worst hit by terrorism in 2017 are Somalia (sixth), India (seventh), Yemen (eighth), Egypt (ninth), and Philippines (10th). News:::Nigeria, Russia sign treaty on legal assistance in criminal matters

Update:: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Nigeria and Federation of Russia have signed a treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters. The Ministry’s Spokesperson George Edokpa said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja. The ministry explained that the Treaty was negotiated in 2009 to enhance collaboration and cooperation between the two countries in the administration of criminal justice and signed in Moscow, Russia on Nov. 27, 2018. ”The Treaty was signed on behalf of Nigeria by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, while Russian Acting Minister of Justice, Mr Oleg Plokhoy, signed on behalf of his country. ”The Treaty on Legal Assistance in Criminal Matter is aimed at providing the necessary mechanism for cooperation in the fight against crime and criminal related matters. ”These include terrorism, as well as to counter every form of support to terrorism,” it stated.
