Politics:::::::APC Reconciliation: 70% of S’ West petitioners from Ondo

THE All Progressives Congress, APC national peace and reconciliation committee set up over crisis in the Southwest submitted its report to the national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in Abuja with a recommendation for persuasion to reconcile aggrieved tendencies.
More than 70% of the complaints in the region as learnt, came from Ondo State where party leaders variously complained of the attitude of the governor.
Chairman of the committee, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State who served as chairman of the committee in presenting the committee’s report thanked Oshiomhole for the passion he has brought to bear in pursuance of peace in the party.
The committee had Governors Nasiru El-Rufai and Akinwunmi Ambode, former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani, former deputy governor of Ekiti State, Professor Modupe Adelabu, the D-G, NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Peterside and Barrister Sa’ida Sa’ad Bugaje and members.

Committee sources told Vanguard: “The committee believes that persuasion is way to go to resolve the issues.”
Asked of the challenges and issues that came before the committee, the source said: “Most of the petitions and complaints came from Ondo State; at least 70% of the complaints came from the state with many of the petitioners observing that the governor is intolerant of other party members.”

News::::Nigeria Emerges Third ‘Most Terrorised Country’ For Fourth Consecutive Year – Report

Update:: The 2018 ranking on terrorism is out and Nigeria, for the fourth consecutive year, occupies the third position among the countries worst hit by terrorism, globally, because of the activities of Boko Haram and herdsmen. Apart from 2014 when it was ranked fourth, Nigeria has remained in the unenviable third position in the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) ranking since 2015. In the latest report released on Wednesday, Iraq, a country in the Middle-East, is ranked first, a position it has held since 2014. Afghanistan has ranked second since 2013. Syria and Pakistan are ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Others among the top 10 countries worst hit by terrorism in 2017 are Somalia (sixth), India (seventh), Yemen (eighth), Egypt (ninth), and Philippines (10th). News:::Nigeria, Russia sign treaty on legal assistance in criminal matters

Update:: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Nigeria and Federation of Russia have signed a treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters. The Ministry’s Spokesperson George Edokpa said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja. The ministry explained that the Treaty was negotiated in 2009 to enhance collaboration and cooperation between the two countries in the administration of criminal justice and signed in Moscow, Russia on Nov. 27, 2018. ”The Treaty was signed on behalf of Nigeria by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, while Russian Acting Minister of Justice, Mr Oleg Plokhoy, signed on behalf of his country. ”The Treaty on Legal Assistance in Criminal Matter is aimed at providing the necessary mechanism for cooperation in the fight against crime and criminal related matters. ”These include terrorism, as well as to counter every form of support to terrorism,” it stated.
