Jim Yong Kim steps down as President of World Bank

Update::
World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim has made the surprise announcement that he is stepping down after six years in the post.
His resignation will take effect from 1 February.
Mr Kim, 59, was not due to leave until 2022, after he was re-elected for a second five-year term in 2017.
He will "join a firm and focus on increasing infrastructure investments in developing countries", the World Bank said.

Update:: The 2018 ranking on terrorism is out and Nigeria, for the fourth consecutive year, occupies the third position among the countries worst hit by terrorism, globally, because of the activities of Boko Haram and herdsmen. Apart from 2014 when it was ranked fourth, Nigeria has remained in the unenviable third position in the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) ranking since 2015. Syria and Pakistan are ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Others among the top 10 countries worst hit by terrorism in 2017 are Somalia (sixth), India (seventh), Yemen (eighth), Egypt (ninth), and Philippines (10th). JUST IN: Egyptian TV Host Jailed For Interviewing Gay Man

Update:: An Egyptian court has sentenced a TV journalist to 12 months' jail time for allegedly "promoting homosexuality" after he interviewed a gay man. Mohammed al-Gheiti was also accused of "contempt of religion" after inviting the guest onto his show, according to Egypt's state-run Al-Ahram website. Al-Gheiti also received a fine of 3,000 Egyptian pounds ($167) and will be placed under surveillance for one year after finishing his prison time, according to Al-Ahram. The verdict, handed down by the misdemeanors court in Giza, can be appealed. The sentence can be suspended pending the outcome of the appeal if al-Gheiti pays 1,000 Egyptian pounds ($56) in bail, lawyer Samir Sabri, who filed legal papers against the TV host, told AFP.
