PDP says all its corrupt leaders now in APC
- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accuses the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being the mother of corruption in Nigeria
- A representative of the party, Kunle Okunola, says the PDP practices internal democracy in the selection of aspirants for political offices
- Okunola notes that any party that does not practice internal democracy cannot help Nigeria out of the problem it has found itself
The Peoples Democratic Party has said it is now free of corruption because all its corrupt leaders have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party during a political stakeholders’ forum organised by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Ikeja, Lagos, also accused the APC of being the mother of corruption, The Punch reports.
A representative of the party, Kunle Okunola, told the political gathering that the PDP practiced internal democracy in the selection of aspirants for political offices
“We are the only party that went through democratic selection when we were doing the structural replacement of our hierarchy, including the presidential candidate of our party," Okunola said.
“A party that does not practice internal democracy cannot help Nigeria out of the problem it has found itself. We have provided the leadership.
“And the corruption that they put on our neck, we have shed all the corrupt party leaders to the APC and I can say it.
“So, the PDP is free of corruption; APC is the mother of corruption for the past 16 years,” a representative of the party.
Other political parties also spoke at the event to sell their programmes and manifestos to Christian leaders and opinion leaders in attendance.
Representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission and the National Orientation Agency, among others were present at the occasion
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, January 10, presided over the meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council and said that the party was sure of victory in the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking at the maiden meeting of the Council in Abuja, the president, however, warned the members of the council not to rest even for a moment, appealing to them to dedicate and commit themselves to the task at hand.
The president disclosed that the agenda for the meeting was to consider and approve the structure and operational modalities of the Presidential Campaign Council
