Claims That Power Generation Has Improved By 100%

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, said claims made on Monday by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, that the country's power generation has improved by 100%, is fraudulent.
While Fashola claimed that that there has been a 100% rise from 4000 megawatts in 2015 to 8000 megawatts in 2018, TCN, in its latest report, said the highest peak figure of power ever generated is 5,222 megawatts.
Both the minister and the Transmission Company gave their statistics on Monday in Abuja, with Fashola insisting, during the visit of the Federation of Construction Industry to his office, that Nigerians now spent less on fuelling of generators and plants because of frequent and improved electricity supply nationwide.
The minister also explained that the government was committed to renewing and expanding the Nigerian economy through the provision of critical infrastructure.
TCN, in its own figures, showed that peak generation attained on February 3, 2019, was 4,976MW.
It also stated that the peak average energy ever sent out was 4,557MWH/H and that this was recorded on February 2, 2016.
TCN further stated that the peak power generation ever attained was 5,222MW, adding that the figure was recorded on December 18, 2017.

News::::Nigeria Emerges Third ‘Most Terrorised Country’ For Fourth Consecutive Year – Report

Update:: The 2018 ranking on terrorism is out and Nigeria, for the fourth consecutive year, occupies the third position among the countries worst hit by terrorism, globally, because of the activities of Boko Haram and herdsmen. Apart from 2014 when it was ranked fourth, Nigeria has remained in the unenviable third position in the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) ranking since 2015. In the latest report released on Wednesday, Iraq, a country in the Middle-East, is ranked first, a position it has held since 2014. Afghanistan has ranked second since 2013. Syria and Pakistan are ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Others among the top 10 countries worst hit by terrorism in 2017 are Somalia (sixth), India (seventh), Yemen (eighth), Egypt (ninth), and Philippines (10th). Update:: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Nigeria and Federation of Russia have signed a treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters. The Ministry’s Spokesperson George Edokpa said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja. The ministry explained that the Treaty was negotiated in 2009 to enhance collaboration and cooperation between the two countries in the administration of criminal justice and signed in Moscow, Russia on Nov. 27, 2018. ”The Treaty was signed on behalf of Nigeria by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, while Russian Acting Minister of Justice, Mr Oleg Plokhoy, signed on behalf of his country. ”The Treaty on Legal Assistance in Criminal Matter is aimed at providing the necessary mechanism for cooperation in the fight against crime and criminal related matters. ”These include terrorism, as well as to counter every form of support to terrorism,” it stated.
